The bodybuilding community is in disbelief following the passing of a prodigious talent whose size and heft had long astounded enthusiasts. Illia “Golem” Yefimchyk passed away at the age of 36; his cause of death has not been disclosed as of this writing. This information was verified via Instagram.
Having been inspired by bodybuilding icons Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone, Illia Golem began working out at an early age, wanting to be perceived as a monster. The Belarus-born Yefimchyk was well-known for his enormous stature, reaching six feet tall and weighing more than 350 pounds.
Who was Illia Golem
With a bench press of 272 kg (approximately 600 pounds) and a deadlift of 317 kg (almost 700 pounds), Illia Yefimchyk a.k.a. Golem was dubbed “the most monstrous” bodybuilder. He had seven nutrient-dense meals a day, a strict 16,500-calorie diet, to maintain his enormous muscle mass and strength.
At a young age, Golem developed a liking for bodybuilding. He relocated from Belarus to the Czech Republic for academic purposes, where he picked up knowledge on healthy eating habits and exercise regimens. He was an amazing athlete growing up, dreaming of having a physique similar to that of Sylvester Stallone or Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Cause of Death
Sadly, Illia Golem’s loss has brought his admirers back to recall his incredible accomplishments, even though no additional information has been made public or the cause of his death is still unknown.
We can only speculate at this time, however it’s likely that large amounts of PED’s, as well as his weight were some of the main factors for his early passing. Even in some of his videos with Larry Wheels they discuss about taking extreme quantities of synthetic testosterone and other anabolics.
Former Mr. Olympia Lee Haney has given a severe warning as the number of deaths in the bodybuilding community keeps rising. Haney raises concerns about the sport’s safety by implying that the quest of a more defined body may be a factor in kidney problems and possibly heart attacks.
Our heartfelt condolences go out to Illia Golem’s friends and family during this difficult time.
