In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Alif. Lam. Mim. (1)
This is the Book in which there is no doubt, a guide for those who are conscious. (2)
Those who believe in the unseen, establish prayer, and spend from what We have provided for them. (3)
And those who believe in what has been revealed to you, [O Muhammad], and what was revealed before you, and have assurance of the Hereafter. (4)
Those are upon [right] guidance from their Lord, and it is those who are the successful. (5)
Indeed, those who disbelieve – it is all the same for them whether you warn them or do not warn them – they will not believe. (6)
Allah has set a seal upon their hearts and upon their hearing, and over their vision is a veil. And for them is a great punishment. (7)
And of the people are some who say, “We believe in Allah and the Last Day,” but they are not believers. (8)
They [think to] deceive Allah and those who believe, but they deceive not except themselves and perceive [it] not. (9)
In their hearts is disease, so Allah has increased their disease; and for them is a painful punishment because they [habitually] used to lie. (10)
And when it is said to them, “Do not cause corruption on the earth,” they say, “We are but reformers.” (11)
Unquestionably, it is they who are the corrupters, but they perceive [it] not. (12)
And when it is said to them, “Believe as the people have believed,” they say, “Should we believe as the foolish have believed?” Unquestionably, it is they who are the foolish, but they know [it] not. (13)
And when they meet those who believe, they say, “We believe”; but when they are alone with their evil ones, they say, “Indeed, we are with you; we were only mockers.” (14)
[But] Allah mocks them and prolongs them in their transgression [while] they wander blindly. (15)
Those are the ones who have purchased error [in exchange] for guidance, so their transaction has brought no profit, nor were they guided. (16)
Their example is that of one who kindled a fire, but when it illuminated what was around him, Allah took away their light and left them in darkness [so] they could not see. (17)
Deaf, dumb and blind – so they will not return [to the right path]. (18)
Or [it is] like a rainstorm from the sky within which is darkness, thunder, and lightning. They put their fingers in their ears against the thunderclaps in dread of death. But Allah is encompassing of the disbelievers. (19)
The lightning almost snatches away their sight. Every time it lights [the way] for them, they walk therein; but when darkness comes over them, they stand [still]. And if Allah had willed, He could have taken away their hearing and their sight. Indeed, Allah is over all things competent. (20)
O people! Devote yourselves to your Lord, who has created you and those before you, so that you may attain righteousness. (21)
He who has made the earth a bed for you and the sky a canopy, and sends down rain from the sky, bringing forth fruits as provision for you. So do not set up equals to Allah while you know [better]. (22)
And if you are in doubt about what We have revealed to Our servant, then produce a chapter like it and call upon your witnesses other than Allah, if you should be truthful. (23)
But if you do not – and you will never be able to – then fear the Fire, whose fuel is men and stones, prepared for the disbelievers. (24)
And give good tidings to those who believe and do righteous deeds that they will have gardens [in Paradise] beneath which rivers flow. Whenever they are provided with fruit therefrom as provision, they will say, “This is what we were provided with before.” And it is given to them in likeness. And they will have therein purified spouses, and they will abide therein eternally. (25)
Indeed, Allah is not timid to present an example – that of a mosquito or what is smaller than it. And those who have believed know that it is the truth from their Lord. But as for those who disbelieve, they say, “What did Allah intend by this as an example?” He misleads many thereby and guides many thereby. And He misleads not except the defiantly disobedient. (26)
Who break the covenant of Allah after contracting it and sever that which Allah has ordered to be joined and cause corruption on earth. It is those who are the losers. (27)
How can you disbelieve in Allah when you were lifeless and He brought you to life; then He will cause you to die, then He will bring you [back] to life, and then to Him you will be returned. (28)
It is He who created for you all of that which is on the earth. Then He directed Himself to the heaven, [His being above all creation], and made them seven heavens, and He is Knowing of all things. (29)
And [mention, O Muhammad], when your Lord said to the angels, “Indeed, I will make upon the earth a successive authority.” They said, “Will You place upon it one who causes corruption therein and sheds blood, while we declare Your praise and sanctify You?” Allah said, “Indeed, I know that which you do not know.” (30)
And He taught Adam the names – all of them. Then He showed them to the angels and said, “Inform Me of the names of these, if you are truthful.” (31)
They said, “Exalted are You; we have no knowledge except what You have taught us. Indeed, it is You who is the Knowing, the Wise.” (32)
He said, “O Adam, inform them of their names.” And when he had informed them of their names, He said, “Did I not tell you that I know the unseen [aspects] of the heavens and the earth? And I know what you reveal and what you have concealed.” (33)
And [mention] when We said to the angels, “Prostrate before Adam”; so they prostrated, except for Iblis. He refused and was arrogant and became of the disbelievers. (34)
And We said, “O Adam, dwell, you and your wife, in Paradise and eat therefrom in [ease and] abundance from wherever you will. But do not approach this tree, lest you be among the wrongdoers.” (35)
But Satan caused them to slip out of it and removed them from that [condition] in which they had been. And We said, “Go down, [all of you], as enemies to one another, and you will have upon the earth a place of settlement and provision for a time.” (36)
Then Adam received from his Lord [some] words, and He accepted his repentance. Indeed, it is He who is the Accepting of repentance, the Merciful. (37)
We said, “Go down from it, all of you. And when guidance comes to you from Me, whoever follows My guidance – there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve.” (38)
But those who disbelieve and deny Our signs – those are the companions of the Fire; they will abide therein eternally.” (39)
O Children of Israel, remember My favor which I have bestowed upon you and fulfill My covenant [upon you] that I will fulfill your covenant [from Me], and be afraid of [only] Me. (40
“And have faith in what I reveal, affirming what you already possess of scripture. Do not be the first to reject it, nor trade away My revelations for a trivial gain. Maintain your duty to Me. (41)
“Do not mix truth with falsehood, nor conceal the truth knowingly. (42)
“Establish prayer, give charity, and bow with those who bow in worship. (43)
“Do you command righteousness upon others while forgetting yourselves, though you recite the Scripture? Do you not understand? (44)
“Seek support in patience and prayer; indeed, it is burdensome except for the humble-minded, who know they will meet their Lord and return to Him. (45)
“O Children of Israel, remember My favor upon you and how I favored you over all nations. (47)
“Beware of a Day when no soul will avail another, nor will intercession be accepted, nor compensation be taken, nor will they be helped. (48)
“And recall when We rescued you from Pharaoh’s people who afflicted you with severe torment, killing your sons and sparing your women—a great trial from your Lord. (49)
“And when We parted the sea for you and saved you while drowning Pharaoh’s people before your very eyes. (50)
“And when We appointed forty nights for Moses, but you took to worshipping the calf in his absence, thus transgressing. (51)
“Yet We pardoned you afterward so that you might be grateful. (52)
“And when We gave Moses the Scripture and the criterion (of right and wrong) so that you might be guided. (53)
“And when Moses said to his people: ‘O my people, you have indeed wronged yourselves by worshiping the calf; so repent to your Creator and kill yourselves.’ That is better for you in the sight of your Creator. He is the Forgiving, the Merciful. (54)
“And when you said: ‘O Moses, we will not believe you until we see Allah plainly,’ and lightning struck you while you looked on. (55)
“Then We revived you after your death so that you might give thanks. (56)
“And We shaded you with clouds and sent down manna and quails, saying: ‘Eat of the good things We have provided you.’ But they did not wrong Us; they wronged themselves. (57)
“And when We said: ‘Enter this town and eat freely of whatever you wish, but enter the gate prostrate and say: “Repentance.” We will forgive your sins and increase reward for the righteous.’ (58)
“But those who transgressed changed the word given to them for another, so We sent down upon the evildoers wrath from heaven for their disobedience. (59)
“And when Moses sought water for his people, We said: ‘Smite the rock with your staff,’ and twelve springs gushed forth from it, each tribe knowing its drinking place. Eat and drink from Allah’s provision and do not act corruptly on earth. (60)
“And when you said: ‘O Moses, we cannot bear to eat one kind of food; pray to your Lord to bring forth for us herbs, cucumbers, garlic, lentils, and onions.’ He said: ‘Would you exchange what is better for what is lower? Go to any town and you will find what you ask for.’ So they were covered with humiliation and wretchedness and drew upon themselves wrath from Allah because they rejected His signs and killed His prophets unjustly. That was because they disobeyed and transgressed. (61)
“Indeed, those who believe, the Jews, the Christians, and the Sabians—whomever believes in Allah and the Last Day and does righteousness, their reward will be with their Lord, and they will have no fear nor will they grieve. (62)
“And recall when We took your covenant and raised the Mount above you, saying: ‘Hold firmly to what We have given you and remember its contents so that you may be mindful.’ (63)
“Yet after that, you turned away. Were it not for Allah’s grace and mercy upon you, you would have surely been among the losers. (64)
“And you know well those among you who broke the Sabbath, to whom We said: ‘Be apes, despised.’ (65)
“So We made it an example for their time and for those after them, and a lesson for the Allah-fearing. (66)
“And when Moses said to his people: ‘Indeed, Allah commands you to sacrifice a cow.’ They said: ‘Do you mock us?’ He replied: ‘I seek refuge in Allah from being among the ignorant.’ (67)
“They said: ‘Call upon your Lord to show us what kind of cow it should be.’ He replied: ‘He says it should neither be old nor too young, but middle-aged; so do what you are commanded.’ (68)
“They said: ‘Call upon your Lord to show us her color.’ He replied: ‘He says it should be a bright yellow cow, pleasing to the onlookers.’ (69)
“They said: ‘Call upon your Lord to make it clear to us what it is, as all cows look alike to us, and if Allah wills, we will be guided.’ (70)”
He replied, “He says, ‘She is a cow neither trained to plow the earth nor to irrigate the field, free from blemish.’ They responded, ‘Now you have spoken the truth.’ So they slaughtered her, though they were hesitant.” (Verse 71)
And [recall] when you slew a soul and disputed over it, and Allah exposed what you concealed. (Verse 72)
So We said, “Strike him with part of it.” Thus Allah gives life to the dead and shows you His signs that you might reason. (Verse 73)
Then your hearts became hardened after that, being like stones or even harder. For indeed, from the stones there are those from which rivers burst forth, and there are those which split open and water comes out, and there are those which fall down in awe of Allah. And Allah is not unaware of what you do. (Verse 74)
Do you hope that they will believe for you while a party of them used to hear the word of Allah and then distort it after they had understood it, while they were knowing? (Verse 75)
And when they meet those who believe, they say, “We believe”; but when they are alone with one another, they say, “Do you talk to them about what Allah has revealed to you so they can argue with you about it before your Lord?” Then will you not reason? (Verse 76)
Do they not know that Allah knows what they conceal and what they declare? (Verse 77)
And among them are unlettered ones who do not know the Scripture except in wishful thinking, but they are only assuming. (Verse 78)
So woe to those who write the “scripture” with their own hands, then say, “This is from Allah,” in order to exchange it for a small price. Woe to them for what their hands have written and woe to them for what they earn. (Verse 79)
And they say, “Never will the Fire touch us, except for a few days.” Say, “Have you taken a covenant with Allah? For Allah will never break His covenant. Or do you say about Allah that which you do not know?” (Verse 80)
Yes, whoever earns evil and his sin has encompassed him – those are the companions of the Fire; they will abide therein eternally. (Verse 81)
But those who believe and do righteous deeds – they are the companions of Paradise; they will abide therein eternally. (Verse 82)
And [recall] when We took the covenant from the Children of Israel, [enjoining upon them], “Do not worship except Allah; and to parents do good and to relatives, orphans, and the needy. And speak to people good [words] and establish prayer and give zakah.” Then you turned away, except a few of you, and you were refusing. (Verse 83)
And [recall] when We took your covenant, [saying], “Do not shed each other’s blood or evict one another from your homes.” Then you acknowledged [this] while you were witnessing. (Verse 84)
Then, you are those [same ones who are] killing one another and evicting a party of your people from their homes, cooperating against them in sin and aggression. And if they come to you as captives, you ransom them, although their eviction was forbidden to you. So do you believe in part of the Scripture and disbelieve in part? Then what is the recompense for those who do that among you except disgrace in worldly life; and on the Day of Resurrection they will be sent back to the severest of punishment. And Allah is not unaware of what you do. (Verse 85)
Those are the ones who have bought the life of this world [in exchange] for the Hereafter, so the punishment will not be lightened for them, nor will they be aided. (Verse 86)
And We certainly gave Moses the Scripture and followed up after him with messengers. And We gave Jesus, the son of Mary, clear proofs and supported him with the Pure Spirit. But is it [not] that every time a messenger came to you, [O Children of Israel], with what your souls did not desire, you were arrogant? And a party [of messengers] you denied and another party you killed. (Verse 87)
And they say, “Our hearts are wrapped.” But, [in fact], Allah has cursed them for their disbelief, so little is it that they believe. (Verse 88)
And when there came to them a Book from Allah confirming that which was with them – although before they used to pray for victory against those who disbelieved – but [then] when there came to them that which they recognized, they disbelieved in it; so the curse of Allah will be upon the disbelievers. (Verse 89)
How wretched is that for which they sold themselves – that they would disbelieve in what Allah has revealed through [their] outrage that Allah would send down His favor upon whom He wills from among His servants. So they returned having [earned] wrath upon wrath. And for the disbelievers is a humiliating punishment. (Verse 90)
“When urged to believe in Allah’s revelations, they respond affirming their belief in what was previously revealed to them, yet they reject subsequent revelations, even though they confirm the truth of what they already possess. So, why did they kill the prophets of Allah in the past, if they are truly believers? ﴾91﴿
Despite Moses presenting clear evidence of Allah’s sovereignty, they turned to idol worship in his absence, demonstrating their wrongdoing. ﴾92﴿
When We made a covenant with them and raised the Mount above them, commanding them to adhere to what We have given and listen, they responded with obedience and rebellion simultaneously. The worship of the calf became ingrained in their hearts due to their rejection of the covenant. Say to them: What your belief commands is evil, if you truly believe. ﴾93﴿
Say to them: If the Hereafter is exclusively for you in the sight of Allah and not for others, then wish for death if you are truthful. But they will never wish for it because of their own deeds. Allah is well-aware of the wrongdoers. ﴾94-95﴿
You’ll find them among the most avid seekers of worldly life, even more so than the idolaters. Each of them desires to live a thousand years, yet even if granted, it would not avert their impending doom. Allah sees all that they do. ﴾96﴿
Ask them: Who opposes Gabriel? He revealed this Scripture to your heart by Allah’s permission, affirming what came before it, providing guidance and good news to the believers. ﴾97﴿
Whoever opposes Allah, His angels, His messengers, Gabriel, and Michael, Allah is indeed an enemy to the disbelievers. ﴾98﴿
We have indeed sent clear signs to you, and only the rebellious will disbelieve in them. ﴾99﴿
Is it then that whenever they make a covenant, a group of them disregards it? Indeed, most of them do not believe. ﴾100﴿”
When a messenger from Allah comes to them, confirming what they already have, some of those who received the Scripture cast the Scripture of Allah behind their backs as if they did not know. ﴾101﴿
They followed what the devils recited concerning Solomon’s kingdom. Solomon did not disbelieve, but the devils disbelieved, teaching people magic and what was revealed to the two angels in Babylon, Harut and Marut. They did not teach anyone until they said, “We are a trial, so do not disbelieve.” And they learned from them that which caused separation between a man and his wife. But they harmed no one thereby except by permission of Allah. And they learned what harmed them and did not benefit them. And they knew that whoever purchased it would have no share in the Hereafter. And how wretched was that for which they sold themselves, if they only knew. ﴾102﴿
If they had believed and feared Allah, a reward from Him would have been better if they only knew. ﴾103﴿
O you who have believed, do not say [to the Prophet], “Listen to us” but say, “Look at us,” and be listeners. For the disbelievers is a painful punishment. ﴾104﴿
The people of the Scripture and the polytheists wish not that any good should be sent down to you from your Lord. But Allah selects for His mercy whom He wills, and Allah is the possessor of great bounty. ﴾105﴿
We do not abrogate or cause to be forgotten any verse of ours or bring one better than it or similar to it. Do you not know that Allah is over all things competent? ﴾106﴿
Do you not know that to Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth and that you have not besides Allah any protector or helper? ﴾107﴿
Or do you intend to ask your Messenger as Moses was asked before? And whoever exchanges faith for disbelief has certainly strayed from the soundness of the way. ﴾108﴿
Many of the People of the Scripture wish they could turn you back to disbelief after you have believed, out of envy from themselves, even after the truth has become clear to them. So pardon and overlook until Allah delivers His command. Indeed, Allah is over all things competent. ﴾109﴿
And establish prayer and give zakah, and whatever good you put forward for yourselves – you will find it with Allah. Indeed, Allah of what you do is Seeing. ﴾110﴿
And they say, “None will enter Paradise except one who is a Jew or a Christian.” That is [merely] their wishful thinking. Say, “Produce your proof, if you should be truthful.” ﴾111﴿
Yes, [on the contrary], whoever submits his face in Islam to Allah while being a doer of good will have his reward with his Lord. And no fear will there be concerning them, nor will they grieve. ﴾112﴿
The Jews say “The Christians have nothing [true] to stand on,” and the Christians say, “The Jews have nothing to stand on,” although they [both] recite the Scripture. Thus did those before them say the same as their words. But Allah will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection concerning that over which they used to differ. ﴾113﴿
And who are more unjust than those who prevent the name of Allah from being mentioned in His mosques and strive toward their destruction. It is not for them to enter them except in fear. For them in this world is disgrace, and they will have in the Hereafter a great punishment. ﴾114﴿
And to Allah belongs the east and the west. So wherever you [might] turn, there is the Face of Allah. Indeed, Allah is all-Encompassing and Knowing. ﴾115﴿
And they say, “Allah has taken a son.” Exalted is He! Rather, to Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and the earth. All are devoutly obedient to Him. ﴾116﴿
Originator of the heavens and the earth. When He decrees a matter, He only says to it, “Be,” and it is. ﴾117﴿
And those who do not know say, “Why does Allah not speak to us or there come to us a sign?” Thus spoke those before them like their words. Their hearts resemble each other. We have shown clearly the signs to a people who are certain [in faith]. ﴾118﴿
Indeed, We have sent you with the truth as a bringer of good tidings and a warner. And you will not be asked about the companions of Hellfire. ﴾119﴿
And never will the Jews or the Christians approve of you until you follow their religion. Say, “Indeed, the guidance of Allah is the [only] guidance.” If you were to follow their desires after what has come to you of knowledge, you would have against Allah no protector or helper. ﴾120﴿
To those to whom We have granted the Scripture, who recite it as it should be recited, they believe in it. But whoever disbelieves in it – they are the losers. (121)
O Children of Israel! Remember the favor I bestowed upon you, and how I preferred you over the worlds. (122)
Beware of a Day when no soul will suffice for another, nor will compensation be accepted from it, nor intercession benefit it, nor will they be aided. (123)
And [remember, O Muhammad], when Abraham was tried by his Lord with commands and he fulfilled them. Allah said, “Indeed, I will make you a leader for the people.” [Abraham] said, “And of my descendants?” Allah said, “My covenant does not include the wrongdoers.” (124)
And [mention, O Muhammad], when We made the House a place of return for the people and [a place of] security. And take, [O believers], from the standing place of Abraham a place of prayer. And We charged Abraham and Ishmael, [saying], “Purify My House for those who perform Tawaf and those who are staying [there] for worship and those who bow and prostrate [in prayer].” (125)
And [mention] when Abraham said, “My Lord, make this a secure city and provide its people with fruits – whoever of them believes in Allah and the Last Day.” [Allah] said, “And whoever disbelieves – I will grant him enjoyment for a little; then I will force him to the punishment of the Fire, and wretched is the destination.” (126)
And [mention] when Abraham was raising the foundations of the House and [with him] Ishmael, [saying], “Our Lord, accept [this] from us. Indeed You are the Hearing, the Knowing. (127)
Our Lord, and make us Muslims [in submission] to You and from our descendants a Muslim [in submission] nation to You. And show us our rites and accept our repentance. Indeed, You are the Accepting of repentance, the Merciful. (128)
Our Lord, and send among them a messenger from themselves who will recite to them Your verses and teach them the Book and wisdom and purify them. Indeed, You are the Exalted in Might, the Wise.” (129)
And who would be averse to the religion of Abraham except one who makes a fool of himself. And We had chosen him in this world, and indeed he, in the Hereafter, will be among the righteous. (130)
When his Lord said to him, “Submit”, he said “I have submitted [in Islam] to the Lord of the worlds.” (131)
And Abraham instructed his sons [to do the same] and [so did] Jacob, [saying], “O my sons, indeed Allah has chosen for you this religion, so do not die except while you are Muslims.” (132)
Or were you witnesses when death approached Jacob, when he said to his sons, “What will you worship after me?” They said, “We will worship your God and the God of your fathers, Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac – one God. And we are Muslims [in submission] to Him.” (133)
That was a nation which has passed on. It will have [the consequence of] what it earned, and you will have what you have earned. And you will not be asked about what they used to do. (134)
They say, “Be Jews or Christians [so] you will be guided.” Say, “Rather, [we follow] the religion of Abraham, inclining toward truth, and he was not of the polytheists.” (135)
Say, [O believers], “We have believed in Allah and what has been revealed to us and what has been revealed to Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac and Jacob and the Descendants and what was given to Moses and Jesus and what was given to the prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them, and we are Muslims [in submission] to Him.” (136)
So if they believe in the same as you believe in, then they have been [rightly] guided; but if they turn away, they are only in dissension, and Allah will be sufficient for you against them. And He is the Hearing, the Knowing. (137)
[Our] faith is theirs [i.e., the Jews’ and Christians’] and they become better guided, and if they turn away, then indeed, they are in dissension, and Allah will be sufficient for you against them. And He is the Hearing, the Knowing. (138)
Say, “Do you argue with us about Allah while He is our Lord and your Lord? For us are our deeds, and for you are your deeds. And we are sincere [in deed and intention] to Him.” (139)
Or do you say that Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac and Jacob and the Descendants were Jews or Christians? Say, “Are you more knowing or is Allah?” And who is more unjust than one who conceals a testimony he has from Allah? And Allah is not unaware of what you do. (140)
Those who have passed away have received their due, as have you through your own efforts. You will not be held accountable for their actions.
Foolish people may question why there’s a change in the direction of prayer (qiblah) from what was observed before. Remind them that the orientation of worship belongs to Allah alone, who guides whom He wills to the straight path.
We have made you a balanced community, witnessing to humanity, with the Prophet as a witness over you. The previous qiblah was designated to differentiate those who truly follow the Messenger from those who turn away. This was a challenging test, except for those whom Allah guided. Allah does not waste your faith, for He is compassionate and merciful to mankind.
We have observed your turning towards the sky seeking guidance, and now We will redirect you towards a qiblah that is beloved to you. Turn your face towards the Sacred Mosque. Those who have received the Scripture know that this revelation is the truth from their Lord, and Allah is fully aware of their actions.
Even if you were to show the People of the Book all kinds of miracles, they would not follow your qiblah, nor would you follow theirs. Following their desires after receiving knowledge would be unjust.
Those who were given the Scripture recognize this revelation as they recognize their own children, yet some of them knowingly conceal the truth.
It is indeed the truth from your Lord, so do not be among those who doubt. Everyone has a direction they are inclined towards, so compete in doing good deeds. Wherever you are, Allah will bring you all together.
Wherever you come from, turn your face towards the Sacred Mosque. It is the truth from your Lord, and Allah is fully aware of your deeds.
And from wherever you come forth, turn your face toward the Sacred Mosque. Allah is aware of what you do, so fear not those who might argue against you unjustly. Fear Allah and complete your obedience to Him, that you may be guided.
Just as We sent a messenger among you, reciting Our revelations, purifying you, teaching you the Book and wisdom, and teaching you what you did not know.
Remember Me, and I will remember you. Be thankful and do not reject Me.
O believers, seek help through patience and prayer, for Allah is with the patient.
Do not consider those who die in the cause of Allah as dead; rather, they are alive, though you do not perceive it.
We will surely test you with fear, hunger, loss of wealth, lives, and fruits. But give glad tidings to the patient.
When struck by calamity, say, “We belong to Allah and to Him we shall return.” They are the ones who will receive blessings and mercy from their Lord, and they are the guided ones.
Surely, Safa and Marwah are among the signs of Allah. Therefore, there is no sin for those who perform Hajj or Umrah to move between them. Whoever does good voluntarily, Allah is Appreciative and Aware.
Those who conceal what We revealed of clear proofs and guidance after We made it clear to people in the Scripture, they are cursed by Allah and cursed by all who curse.
Except for those who repent, amend, and clarify. To them, I will turn in forgiveness. I am the Oft-Returning, the Merciful.
“Behold! Those who reject faith and pass away while still in disbelief, upon them falls the condemnation of Allah, the angels, and all humanity combined. They shall abide therein eternally, with no relief from the punishment, nor shall they be granted respite. They shall dwell perpetually in torment. Your God is One God; there is no deity except Him, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the alternation of night and day, and the ships that sail through the sea with what benefits people, and the water Allah sends down from the sky, reviving the earth after its death, and dispersing all kinds of creatures therein, and the changing of the winds and the clouds controlled between the sky and the earth, there are signs for people who use their intellect.
Among mankind are those who take rivals besides Allah, loving them as they should love Allah. But those who believe are stronger in their love for Allah. If only the wrongdoers could see, when they behold the punishment, that all power belongs to Allah, and that Allah is severe in punishment!
When those who were followed disown those who followed them, and they see the punishment, and all their ties are cut asunder.
And those who followed will say, “If only we had another turn, we would disown them as they disowned us.” Thus will Allah show them their deeds as regrets upon them, and they will not emerge from the Fire.
O mankind! Eat from what is lawful and wholesome on the earth, and do not follow the footsteps of Satan; he is a clear enemy to you.
He only commands you to do evil and indecency and to attribute to Allah what you do not know.
And when it is said to them, “Follow what Allah has revealed,” they say, “Rather, we will follow that which we found our fathers upon.” Even if Satan was inviting them to the punishment of the Blaze?
The example of those who disbelieve is like that of one who shouts at what hears nothing but calls and cries. Deaf, dumb, and blind, so they do not understand.
O you who have believed, eat from the good things which We have provided for you and be grateful to Allah if it is [indeed] Him that you worship.
He has only forbidden to you dead animals, blood, the flesh of swine, and that which has been dedicated to other than Allah. But whoever is forced [by necessity], neither desiring [it] nor transgressing [its limit], there is no sin upon him. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.
Indeed, those who conceal what Allah has sent down of the Book and exchange it for a small price – those consume not into their bellies except the Fire. And Allah will not speak to them on the Day of Resurrection, nor will He purify them. And they will have a painful punishment.
Those are the ones who have exchanged guidance for error and forgiveness for punishment. How patient they are for [accepting] the Fire!
That is [deserved by them] because Allah has sent down the Book in truth. And indeed, those who differ over the Book are in extreme dissension.
It is not [attributable] to any virtue that you turn your faces toward the east or the west, but [true] virtue is [in] one who believes in Allah, the Last Day, the angels, the Book, and the prophets and gives wealth, in spite of love for it, to relatives, orphans, the needy, the traveler, those who ask [for help], and for freeing slaves; [and who] establishes prayer and gives zakah; [those who] fulfill their promise when they promise; and [those who] are patient in poverty and hardship and during battle. Those are the ones who have been true, and it is those who are the righteous.
O you who have believed, prescribed for you is legal retribution for those murdered – the free for the free, the slave for the slave, and the female for the female. But whoever overlooks from his brother anything, then there should be a suitable follow-up and payment to him with good conduct. This is an alleviation from your Lord and a mercy. But whoever transgresses after that will have a painful punishment.
And there is for you in legal retribution [saving of] life, O you [people] of understanding, that you may become righteous.
Prescribed for you when death approaches [any] one of you if he leaves wealth [is that he should make] a bequest for the parents and near relatives according to what is acceptable – a duty upon the righteous.”
Whoever alters a will after hearing it bears the sin, but Allah is All-Hearing, All-Knowing. (2:181)
If someone fears injustice or sin in a will and brings about reconciliation, there is no blame upon them, for Allah is Forgiving, Merciful. (2:182)
Believers, fasting has been prescribed for you as it was for those before you, so that you may attain piety. (2:183)
Fast for a set number of days. But if one is ill or on a journey, then make up for it on other days. Those who can afford it should provide a meal to a needy person. And better still is to fast willingly, for fasting is better for you if you only knew. (2:184)
Ramadan is the month in which the Quran was revealed, a guidance for mankind with clear proofs of guidance and the Criterion. So whoever witnesses this month should fast, but if one is sick or on a journey, then make up for it on other days. Allah desires ease for you, not hardship, so complete the period of fasting and glorify Allah for His guidance, that you may be grateful. (2:185)
When My servants ask you concerning Me, I am indeed near. I respond to the call of the supplicant when he calls upon Me. So let them respond to Me and believe in Me, that they may be guided aright. (2:186)
It is permissible for you to have intimate relations with your wives during the nights of fasting. They are clothing for you and you are clothing for them. Allah knows that you used to deceive yourselves, so He turned to you and forgave you. Now, have intimate relations with them and seek what Allah has ordained for you. Eat and drink until the white thread of dawn becomes distinct from the black thread. Then complete the fast until nightfall. And do not have intimate relations with them while you are in retreat in the mosques. These are the limits set by Allah, so do not approach them. Thus Allah makes His commandments clear to mankind, that they may become righteous. (2:187)
Do not consume one another’s wealth unjustly or use it to bribe the judges in order to wrongfully seize the possessions of others. (2:188)
They ask you about the new moons. Say: “They are markers for time for mankind and for Hajj.” It is not righteousness to enter houses from the back, but righteousness is in being mindful of Allah. Enter houses through their doors and be mindful of Allah, that you may succeed. (2:189)
Fight in the way of Allah against those who fight against you, but do not transgress. Allah does not love transgressors. (2:190)
And kill them wherever you overtake them and expel them from wherever they have expelled you, for persecution is worse than killing. But do not fight them at the Sacred Mosque unless they fight you there. But if they fight you, then kill them. Such is the recompense of the disbelievers. (2:191)
But if they cease, then Allah is Forgiving and Merciful. (2:192)
Fight them until there is no persecution, and religion belongs to Allah. But if they cease, then there is to be no aggression except against the oppressors. (2:193)
The sacred month for the sacred month, and all rights are subject to retaliation. So whoever has assaulted you, then assault him in the same way that he has assaulted you. And fear Allah and know that Allah is with those who fear Him. (2:194)
Spend in the cause of Allah and do not throw yourselves with your own hands into destruction. Be good, for Allah loves the doers of good. (2:195)
Perform the Hajj and Umrah for Allah. But if you are prevented, then provide what you can easily afford, and do not shave your heads until the offering reaches its place. And whoever among you is ill or has an ailment of the head must pay a ransom of fasting or charity or offering. And if you are in safety, then whoever combines the Umrah with the Hajj must provide what can be easily obtained. But whoever cannot find [the means], then a fast of three days during the Hajj and of seven when you have returned [home]. That is ten complete [days]. This is for those whose family is not in the area of al-Masjid al-Haram. And fear Allah and know that Allah is severe in penalty. (2:196)
The Hajj months are well-known. So whoever has made Hajj obligatory upon himself by entering the state of Ihram should not have sexual relations or commit sin or dispute unjustly during the Hajj. And whatever good you do, Allah knows it. And take provisions, but indeed, the best provision is fear of Allah. And fear Me, O you of understanding. (2:197)
There is no blame upon you for seeking bounty from your Lord during Hajj. But when you depart from ‘Arafat, remember Allah at al-Mash’ar al-Haram. And remember Him, as He has guided you, for indeed, you were before that among those astray. (2:198)
Then depart from the place from where [all] the people depart and ask forgiveness of Allah. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful. (2:199)
And when you have completed your rites, remember Allah like your [previous] remembrance of your fathers or with [much] greater remembrance. And among the people is he who says, “Our Lord, give us in this world,” and he will have in the Hereafter no share. (2:200)
Among them are those who pray: “Our Lord, grant us goodness in this world and goodness in the Hereafter, and protect us from the punishment of the Fire.” (Quran 2:201)
They will receive a fair share of what they have earned, and Allah is swift in reckoning. (Quran 2:202)
Remember Allah during the designated days. Whoever hastens to leave after two days incurs no sin, and whoever stays longer incurs no sin, provided they act righteously. Fear Allah and know that you will all be gathered before Him. (Quran 2:203)
Some people impress you with their talk about worldly life, swearing by Allah what is in their hearts, yet they are the most antagonistic. (Quran 2:204)
When they turn away, they strive to spread corruption on earth and destroy crops and livestock, for Allah does not love corruption. (Quran 2:205)
When advised to fear Allah, pride leads them deeper into sin. Hell will be their abode, a terrible destination. (Quran 2:206)
Some willingly sacrifice themselves seeking Allah’s pleasure, for Allah is compassionate towards His servants. (Quran 2:207)
O believers, enter into submission completely and do not follow the footsteps of Satan; indeed, he is a clear enemy to you. (Quran 2:208)
If you slip back after clear evidence has come to you, then know that Allah is Mighty and Wise. (Quran 2:209)
Do they wait for Allah to come to them in the shadows of clouds with angels, and for the matter to be decided? To Allah all matters are returned. (Quran 2:210)
Ask the Children of Israel how many clear signs We gave them. Whoever changes Allah’s favor after receiving it, Allah’s punishment is severe. (Quran 2:211)
The life of this world is adorned for disbelievers, who mock the believers. But on the Day of Judgment, the God-fearing will be above them, and Allah provides without measure to whom He wills. (Quran 2:212)
Mankind was one community, and Allah sent prophets as bearers of good news and warnings, along with the Book to judge between people. But they differed, except those whom Allah guided. (Quran 2:213)
Do you think you will enter paradise without facing trials like those who passed before you? They were afflicted and shaken until they asked when Allah’s help would come, and it is near. (Quran 2:214)
They ask you what they should spend. Say: Whatever good you give should go to parents, relatives, orphans, the needy, and travelers in need. Allah is aware of whatever good you do. (Quran 2:215)
Warfare has been prescribed for you, though you dislike it. But perhaps you hate a thing and it is good for you, and perhaps you love a thing and it is bad for you. Allah knows, and you do not know. (Quran 2:216)
They ask about fighting during the sacred month. Say: Fighting in it is a grave sin, but turning people away from Allah’s path, disbelief in Him, and expelling believers from the Sacred Mosque are greater offenses. Persecution is worse than killing, and they will not stop fighting you until they turn you away from your faith. (Quran 2:217)
Indeed, those who believe, emigrate, and strive in the cause of Allah have hope in His mercy, for Allah is Forgiving and Merciful. (Quran 2:218)
They ask you about wine and gambling. Say: In them is great sin, but some benefit for people. However, their sin outweighs their benefit. And they ask what they should spend. Say: The excess. Thus, Allah makes His revelations clear to you so that you may reflect. (Quran 2:219)
In this world and the Hereafter. And they ask you about orphans. Say: Improving their condition is best, and if you mix your affairs with theirs, they are your brothers. Allah knows who corrupts and who improves. If Allah willed, He could have made things difficult for you. Allah is Mighty and Wise. (Quran 2:220)
“Do not marry idolatrous women until they believe, for surely a believing slave woman is better than an idolatress, even if she attracts you. And do not give your daughters in marriage to idolaters until they believe, for surely a believing slave man is better than an idolater, even if he charms you. They call to the Fire, while Allah calls to Paradise and forgiveness by His grace. He clarifies His revelations to humanity so that they may take heed.” (Quran 2:221)
“They ask you about menstruation. Say, ‘It is a discomfort, so avoid women during their menstrual periods and do not approach them until they are purified. Once they have cleansed themselves, then approach them as Allah has instructed. Surely, Allah loves those who repent and loves those who keep themselves clean.’” (Quran 2:222)
“Your wives are like fields for you, so approach your fields however you wish and send forth good deeds for yourselves. Fear Allah and know that you will meet Him. Give good news to the believers.” (Quran 2:223)
“Do not use your oaths to hinder righteousness, piety, and reconciliation among people. Allah is All-Hearing, All-Knowing.” (Quran 2:224)
“Allah does not hold you accountable for unintentional oaths, but He holds you accountable for what your hearts have earned. Allah is Forgiving, Forbearing.” (Quran 2:225)
“Those who divorce their wives must wait for four months. If they reconcile, then surely Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.” (Quran 2:226)
“And if they decide on divorce, Allah is All-Hearing, All-Knowing.” (Quran 2:227)
“Divorced women must wait for three menstrual periods before remarrying. It is not permissible for them to conceal what Allah has created in their wombs if they believe in Allah and the Last Day. Their husbands have the right to take them back if they seek reconciliation, and they have rights similar to those against them in a just manner, while men have a degree of advantage over them. Allah is Mighty, Wise.” (Quran 2:228)
“Divorce is twice, and then reconciliation or fair separation. It is not permissible for you to take back anything you have given them unless both fear that they cannot keep within Allah’s limits. If you fear they cannot maintain Allah’s limits, there is no sin on them for what she may give up to get her freedom. These are the limits of Allah, so do not transgress them. Whoever exceeds Allah’s limits, such are the wrongdoers.” (Quran 2:229)
“If he divorces her the third time, she is not lawful for him afterward until she marries another husband. If the other husband divorces her, there is no blame on either of them if they reunite, provided they think they can observe Allah’s limits. These are the limits of Allah; He makes them clear to people who know.” (Quran 2:230)
“When you divorce women and they reach their term, retain them in kindness or release them in kindness. Do not retain them to their harm, transgressing. Whoever does that wrongs himself. Do not make Allah’s revelations a mockery; remember Allah’s favor upon you and what He has revealed to you of the Scripture and wisdom to instruct you. Fear Allah and know that Allah is Aware of all things.” (Quran 2:231)

“When you divorce women and they reach their term, do not prevent them from marrying their husbands if they agree between themselves in kindness. This is an admonition for those of you who believe in Allah and the Last Day. That is more virtuous for you and purer. Allah knows; you do not know.” (Quran 2:232)
“Mothers should breastfeed their children for two full years if they wish to complete the nursing. The father of the child is responsible for their provision and clothing in a reasonable manner. No one should be burdened beyond their capacity. Neither mother nor father should suffer harm because of their child. And on the heirs is similar responsibility. If they mutually agree to wean the child and consult each other, there is no sin on them. If you wish to have your children nursed by a foster-mother, there is no sin on you, provided you pay what you agreed upon in fairness. Fear Allah and know that Allah sees what you do.” (Quran 2:233)
“Those of you who die and leave wives behind, they should wait for four months and ten days. When they reach their term, there is no blame on you for what they do for themselves in a reasonable manner. Allah is informed about what you do.” (Quran 2:234)
There is no sin for you in that which ye proclaim or hide in your minds concerning your troth with women. Allah knoweth that ye will remember them. But plight not your troth with women except by uttering a recognised form of words. And do not consummate the marriage until (the term) prescribed is run. Know that Allah knoweth what is in your minds, so beware of Him; and know that Allah is Forgiving, Clement. ﴾235﴿

And when Saul set out with the army, he said: Lo! Allah will try you by (the ordeal of) a river. Whosoever therefore drinketh thereof he is not of me, and whosoever tasteth it not he is of me, save him who taketh (thereof) in the hollow of his hand. But they drank thereof, all save a few of them. And after he had crossed (the river), he and those who believed with him, they said: We have no power this day against Goliath and his hosts. But those who knew that they would meet Allah exclaimed: How many a little company hath overcome a mighty host by Allah’s leave! Allah is with the steadfast. ﴾249﴿
And when they went into the field against Goliath and his hosts they said: Our Lord! Bestow on us endurance, make our foothold sure, and give us help against the disbelieving folk. ﴾250﴿
So they routed them by Allah’s leave and David slew Goliath; and Allah gave him the kingdom and wisdom, and taught him of that which He willeth. And if Allah had not repelled some men by others the earth would have been corrupted. But Allah is a Lord of Kindness to (His) creatures. ﴾251﴿
These are the portents of Allah which We recite unto thee (Muhammad) with truth, and lo! thou art of the number of (Our) messengers; ﴾252﴿

O ye who believe! When ye contract a debt for a fixed term, record it in writing. Let a scribe record it in writing between you in (terms of) equity. No scribe should refuse to write as Allah hath taught him, so let him write, and let him who incurreth the debt dictate, and let him observe his duty to Allah his Lord, and diminish naught thereof. But if he who oweth the debt is of low understanding, or weak, or unable himself to dictate, then let the guardian of his interests dictate in (terms of) equity. And call to witness, from among your men, two witnesses. And if two men be not (at hand) then a man and two women, of such as ye approve as witnesses, so that if the one erreth (through forgetfulness) the other will remember. And the witnesses must not refuse when they are summoned. Be not averse to writing down (the contract) whether it be small or great, with (record of) the term thereof. That is more equitable in the sight of Allah and more sure for testimony, and the best way of avoiding doubt between you; save only in the case when it is actual merchandise which ye transfer among yourselves from hand to hand. In that case it is no sin for you if ye write it not. And have witnesses when ye sell one to another, and let no harm be done to scribe or witness. If ye do (harm to them) lo! it is a sin in you. Observe your duty to Allah. Allah is teaching you. And Allah is knower of all things. ﴾282﴿

If ye be on a journey and cannot find a scribe, then a pledge in hand (shall suffice). And if one of you entrusteth to another let him who is trusted deliver up that which is entrusted to him (according to the pact between them) and let him observe his duty to Allah his Lord. Hide not testimony. He who hideth it, verily his heart is sinful. Allah is Aware of what ye do. ﴾283﴿

Allah tasketh not a soul beyond its scope. For it (is only) that which it hath earned, and against it (only) that which it hath deserved. Our Lord! Condemn us not if we forget, or miss the mark! Our Lord! Lay not on us such a burden as thou didst lay on those before us! Our Lord! Impose not on us that which we have not the strength to bear! Pardon us, absolve us and have mercy on us, Thou, our Protector, and give us victory over the disbelieving folk. ﴾286﴿
