Chantilly Lace
Chantilly Lace by Benjamin Moore is one of my all time favorite whites! I feel it gives the brightest white look, as it has a very slight blue undertone giving it more of a diamond white look. We painted the exterior of our home Chantilly Lace, as it is partially shaded, and we could not be happier with our decision, it gave us that pop of white we really wanted. We painted the pergola and trim to match but with a semi-gloss sheen for a clean sleek look.
You will see the very slight blue undertone in the shaded areas (first photo below) and it will be bright white in the sunlight (pergola photo). It is great for shaded areas where you still want a bright white look and want to avoid too much of a yellow tinge.
Pure White
Pure White by Sherwin Williams will likely always be a go to white for me. It is the brightest white with nearly no undertone, making it a great choice for exterior and interior. We choice to paint our interior trim, wainscoting and office in Pure White, semi-gloss finish. Our office does not receive a lot of natural light and anything with a vanilla undertone looked way to yellow in this room. We wanted something with a neutral undertone, as we have Simply White on our walls, which has a very slight vanilla undertone, and would not match well with the blue undertone of Chantilly Lace. In my opinion, Pure White is also a little less stark than Chantilly Lace, which I wanted for the interior.
Simply White
We went with Simply White, by Benjamin Moore on our walls. I love this white for the interior of homes because it gives a bright white look, with a very slight vanilla undertone that warms the space and does not make the interior feel too stark. However, it is still a very white, white and will appear more white in well lit rooms with natural light and more vanilla in shaded rooms. If you have a room that does not have a lot of natural light and still want a white look, you may consider swapping that room for Pure White. Our home has a lot of natural light, so Simply White was the perfect choice, adding the right about of white and warmth to each space.
