As a beauty editor, I know that the term “natural” doesn’t mean much in the beauty industry, as there is some nuance to the argument regarding what constitutes a “clean” product. (Oftentimes, these terms promote a fearmongering quality, as if all other beauty products are inherently harmful. But I digress). They tend to not be regulated and don’t have a standardized definition. What one person thinks is a truly “natural” or “clean” product might differ from someone else.
That said, until a better, more specific term catches on, I’ll stick with the term “natural” to describe products that have been consciously crafted with well-being in mind. Even though this side of the beauty industry is murky, there are multiple brands I trust and feel good buying from.
This summer, my goal is to buy more of them and reconfigure my routine to be more intentional, deliberate, and, yes, natural. Ahead, see every single beauty product that’s on my wish list. From skincare to makeup to haircare and beyond, these beauty products will build my summertime routine.
Cleanser
One Love Organics
Botanical B Enzyme Cleansing Oil + Makeup Remover
I love double-cleansing, so I always start off my skincare routine with an oil-based cleanser. This one feels silky smooth on my skin and dissolves sunscreen and makeup in a flash. It uses sunflower seed oil as the base, a vitamin B complex, and antioxidant-rich pumpkin and papaya seed oils to get the job done.
Pai
Phaze Rebalance Clarifying Cleanser
After using an oil cleanser, I’ll follow up with a gel cleanser. This one uses gentle PHA to clarify oily, congested skin. I love the lightweight foam texture and the way it tackles my blackheads.
Another gel cleanser I love, this one is infused with red algae, chlorophyll, lactic acid, and lime, cypress, juniper, and jasmine essential oils. It smells lovely—light and aquatic. The creamy gel texture makes my skin so fresh and calm.
Serums
Herbivore Botanicals
Nova 15% Vitamin C + Turmeric Brightening Serum
I recently started using this vitamin C serum, and the glow is unreal. Seriously, after less than a month, I can see a visible improvement in dullness and dark spots.
Vintner’s Daughter
Active Botanical Serum by Vintner’s Daughter
This cult-favorite serum is worth the hype. It combines 22 organic botanicals with essential oils. Containing phytonutrients, minerals, phytoceramides, fatty acids,, and antioxidants, it leaves the skin glowing.
Ere Perez
Quandong Green Booster Serum
This little dropper bottle contains a serum that I can only describe as a green juice for the skin. Full of superfood ingredients like chlorophyll, spinach leaf, alfalfa, and raspberry seed, it delivers so much nourishment to the skin.
Moisturizer
Josh Rosebrook
Nutrient Day Cream With SPF 30
An sunscreen-moisturizer hybrid, this formula protects the skin with SPF 30, dries to a matte finish, makes the skin feel incredibly smooth, and shows no white cast.
Pai
The Anthemis Soothing Moisturizer
Chamomile and rosehip make this moisturizer ultra-calming for redness-prone, sensitive skin. I find that it always calms the redness from a rosacea flare-up.
Tata Harper
Water-Lock Moisturizer
This silicone-free formula does exactly what it says it will—lock moisture in.
Kora Organics
Turmeric Glow Moisturizer
I’m also snagging this turmeric, licorice, and noni fruit-spiked moisturizer, which promises to brighten, firm, and nourish the complexion all at once.
Sunscreen
MINU
Brightening Sunscreen Minerals Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Gel-Cream
I love sunscreen. I’m also very picky about sunscreen. This one checks all my boxes with a lightweight texture, a universal tint (no white cast!), and a skin-brightening formula. Read my full review to learn why I’m so obsessed with it.
Kosas
Dreambeam Comfy Smooth Sunscreen Broad Spectrum Spf 40
If your sunscreen vibe is “as glowy as it gets,” you’ll love this Kosas formula.
MARA
Algae + Zinc Sea Kale Sunscreen Serum
A lightweight serum, marine-derived ingredients, and SPF 30? I’m sold.
Kinship
Self Reflect SPF 32 Probiotic Moisturizing Sunscreen
A mineral sunscreen, this doubles as a primer and moisturizer. I love efficiency.
Herbivore
Star Seed Sheer Glow Mineral Sunscreen SPF 30
Another sunscreen with a universal tint, this one goes on so smooth and sheer. I never see a white cast, and it doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin. I love it so much.
Makeup
ILIA
True Skin Serum Foundation
This dewy formula offers medium, natural-looking coverage. It gets me so many compliments, and I’ve been using it for years. It truly feels like a serum on the skin.
Tower 28
Shineon Lip Jelly in Wild
Never sticky yet always pigmented, this lip gloss is one of my favorite summertime makeup products. I love all the shades, but this berry-colored one is a stand-out.
RMS Beauty
Eyelights Cream Eyeshadow
Nothing is easier than applying a quick wash of cream eye shadow. This one lasts forever and comes in a multitude of pretty, understated shades. I want them all.
I can’t talk about natural beauty products without mentioning this iconic lip and cheek color. It’s creamy, highly pigmented, and easy to blend with just your fingers.
Westman Atelier
Baby Cheeks Blush Stick in Petal
Another blush worth buying, this one looks just as pretty on the skin as it does in the packaging. A couple of swipes, a quick blend with my fingers, and I have the prettiest, plumpest-looking cheeks.
Tower 28
Makewaves Mascara
This mascara lengthens and defines my lashes without any flakiness or fall-out.
LYS Beauty
No Limits Cream Bronzer Stick
It’s not often I find a makeup product that’s love at first swipe, but this one was it. The texture is so creamy and blendable that it’s basically impossible to mess up.
Kosas
Air Brow Clear Lifting Treatment Gel
This is my all-time favorite brow gel. There, I said it.
Ere Perez
Cacao Bronzing Pot
When I tell you that I’m obsessed with this bronzer, I mean it. To apply, I simply swirl a makeup sponge into the pot, pat it on the contours of my face, and follow up with a bit of translucent powder. It never fails to make me look sun-kissed.
Kjaer Weis
Nude Lipsticks
If you’re in the market for a nude lipstick, I highly suggest checking out the Kjaer Weis shade range. It’s so on-point, covering a wide range of undertones.
Haircare
This shampoo was formulated to moisturize and revive the driest hair. It has a rich and creamy formula with rare Amazonian oils and protein-bonding sugars to transform brittle hair. I love its tropical scent of passion fruit and mango.
Rahua
Hydration Conditioner
Don’t forget the matching conditioner.
Innersense
Hydrating Hair Mask
Dry-haired girls get it: we need super-hydrating hair products. This hair mask fits the bill, boosting moisture levels with an incredible list of hydrating and strengthening ingredients. There are tamanu, flaxseed, and monoi oils. There are quinoa proteins. There are shea, coconut, and avocado butter. It’s so rich and luxe.
Lightweight and hydrating, this 3-in-1 formula smooths, detangles, and defines.
Ceremonia
Papaya Scalp Scrub
A scalp scrub is necessary for removing product build-up (like from dry shampoo). Take it from me—a clear, smooth, and exfoliated scalp is a happy scalp.
Body Care
iota
Supermatcha Body Lotion+
This matcha-spiked body lotion gave me firmer skin in three weeks. No, that isn’t an exaggeration. Read my full review to learn why it’s a staple in my bodycare routine.
iota
Supervitamin Body Wash+ Clarifying
I also love the brand’s body wash. It contains so many good-for-skin vitamins, lathers up luxuriously, and smells incredible, like eucalyptus leaf and lemon rind.
Another glow-boosting and antioxidant-rich skincare product (can you tell I have a beauty type?), this oil contains vitamin C-rich amla, turmeric, marula oil, aloe vera, and avocado oil to nourish the skin. The scent of citrus and vanilla is a bonus.
A tool that’s designed to stimulate the lymphatic and circulatory systems, gently scrape this up your limbs after applying body oil for an instant sculpting effect.
C & The Moon
Malibu Made Body Scrub
This celeb-loved body scrub is a must-have for summer. It uses all-natural brown sugar, organic botanical oils, and food-grade vanilla. It’s so lovely and decadent.
Davids
Professional Tongue Scraper
I recently bought this tongue scraper after seeing it on TikTok. It’s supposed to improve oral hygiene by lowering the risk of tooth decay and freshening breath. To use, scrape it along your tongue from back to front to remove bacteria.
Kaia Naturals
The Takesumi Bikini Bright Brightening Milk
Dark spots always pop up for me post hair-removal—no matter if I shave, wax, or use any other technique. This roll-on serum contains 1% alpha arbutin to brighten and even skin tone and 10% azelaic acid to brighten and calm redness.
