The looks we see on red, or in this case green, carpets are a collaborative effort between artists. Jennifer Lopez may have stepped onto the green carpet solo in her Schiaparelli dress, but behind the scenes, dozens of artists were involved. One was the celebrated hairstylist Lorenzo Martin. With a portfolio that includes the pages of Vogue and L’Oréal ads and working with A-listers from Mariah Carey to Catherine Zeta Jones, it’s no wonder his work graced this year’s, Met Gala. Lorenzo created the top knot with ethereal wisps of hair, to compliment JLo’s beaded gown.

Two tools used in the star’s look were Tangle Teezer brushes. Known for brushes that detangle hair gently and easily, one of their star tools is the Plant Brush. Made from 85% sustainably sourced castor beans, the brush is the next generation of sustainable products moving away from plastic. As part of an effort to keep plastic-based brushes out of landfills, the company offers a free recycling program. To date, the company recycles 500 brushes yearly and has plans to increase that number to 10,000 by 2030.
Recycle your plastic-based brushes and try a plant-based Tangle Teezer detangler. Also, read below for the step-by-step instructions on how Lorenzo created Jennifer’s ethereal look.
