1. Enjoy a day in Old Town Alexandria this weekend… The Old Town Arts & Crafts Fair is this Saturday, June 8, 10am – 6pm at Waterfront Park. Over 90 local and regional artists will showcase all kinds of works — pottery, stationery, fabrics, paintings, jewelry, photography, and more — plus, there will be entertainment and activities for kids. Plan to see the Interstellar Influencer art installation and stroll/shop along King Street while you’re there, too!
2. June is Pride month, and Capital Pride’s two biggest events are this weekend: The annual parade on Saturday is always a spectacular extravaganza of ornate floats, street performers, music and dancing, glitter and beads, and plenty of reveling. Sunday’s family-friendly festival, on Pennsylvania Avenue from 3rd to 7th Streets NW, will feature several stages of live entertainment, hundreds of exhibitors, and activities for all ages. It’s all a fun and fabulous opportunity to show support for the LGBTAQ community and join the celebration!
3. Bethesda Big Train, the local summer collegiate wooden bat baseball team, are playing games at home this Friday evening, June 7, and Sunday morning, June 9. The games are great for families with young children, showcasing baseball on a much smaller scale than MLB at Nats Park. At the Friday game, Roda, the car servicing company just introduced on the blog, will be there with swag giveaways for attendees. And the Sunday game is early, at 10am, to accommodate the youngest fans. It’s a special Grandparents Day with Homer plushie doll (Big Train’s mascot), colored chalk boxes, and other giveaways for the first 100 kid fans, plus there will be ice cream treats for purchase and a chance to run the cases after the game. Buy tickets for the Friday evening game here and the Sunday morning game here.
4. A highly-rated lotion that is a bug repellant and sunscreen all in one? I’ll try it! And a fantastic sunscreen for the face… this one that applies so nice and light and gives you a little glow.
