Grab these fish find and color the letter sheets to work on letter recognition and uppercase to lowercase letter matching! They are perfect for alphabet centers!
Fish Find and Color the Letter
The amazing thing about these free printable find and color pages is that they can be differentiated for students at a variety of levels.
These fish find and color the letter alphabet pages are offered on black-and-white sheets, but there is a color version too. Then, there are printable bubble cards with corresponding uppercase letters. I have also included two sets of picture cards with beginning sounds to match each letter.
This allows for simple differentiation. Students working on letter identification can use the letter cards, and students ready to work on letter sounds and beginning sound isolation can use the picture cards. In addition, you can mix them up and use both. There are lots of ways to use this resource to work on phonics skills!
This activity is perfect for teaching upper and lowercase letter recognition with preschool and kindergarten students during small groups or independent center times as we head into summer.
If you have students who don’t like to color, try this!
Place the fish sheets into write and wipe pockets or laminate them. Then, give the students a dry-erase marker to cross off the letters they find them.
I also included two full-color mats for students to use manipulatives on. Give them snap cubes or counters to cover the letters on the sheet as they find them.

Supplies Needed:
Fish Find and Color the Letter Printables (button to download at the bottom of this post)
Scissors – to cut out the cards
Crayons or dry-erase markers
This activity requires very little prep. Print the pages and cut out the cards. You can also laminate the cards for more durability.
No Prep Option for the Fish Alphabet Sheets
Don’t want to prep the bubble letter cards? No problem! Use an alphabet manipulative like letter tiles or letter magnets. If you do that, this activity requires no prep. Just print the mats, and you will be ready to go!
How to Use this Spring Alphabet Activity
Place the pile of bubble letter cards in front of your students. They will pull one card at a time and determine which uppercase letter they see. Then, they will locate the matching lowercase letter on their mat and color it in (or cover it up). They continue drawing cards until all of their letters are colored or covered!
Want to add even more fun to this activity? Hide the bubble cards all over the room and have your students go on an alphabet hunt to find the letters. They will love this fun approach to learning letters and it’s a great way to get them up and moving while learning!
This is also a fun activity for a fish or ocean theme! While students are learning lots of ocean facts, they can use this activity simultaneously to work on phonics!
Many kids can do this independently because of the simple and easy-to-follow steps, making it perfect for your literacy centers or independent morning work. It can also be differentiated for many levels and abilities and modified for kids who don’t like coloring.
