Kids love building forts and to be honest, so do many parents! It’s a great way to interact with your kids and work alongside them to design and create something really special.
When we were kids, play couches didn’t exist. We had to steal couch cushions and hope we didn’t get yelled at by an angry parent who didn’t want the family sofa to get wrecked.

Toddler Forts
Building a fort with your toddler can be a super fun and rewarding experience – and thanks to Figgy it’s much easier on your actual sofa. Toddlers love having a special place of their own and building forts with your kids, according to the experts, has it’s benefits.
Toddler Fort Building Benefits
Critical and independent thinking: Even toddlers can help move cushions and add blankets. Ask them where pieces should go and what you should add.
Imaginative play time: What is the fort to them? A cave? A hideout? A rocketship? Help them imagine where they might be and what might be around them!
Early Stem Learning: Understanding how things work. Explain to your toddler how the velcro holds the pieces together or the roof is balanced on the two other places. Ask them what would happen if you took a piece away.
Supports divergent thinking: Give your toddler a rectangle or wedge or silk and ask them what you could use it for in your fort. I bet them can come up with some creative answers!
What do you need to make the perfect toddler fort or indoor tent?
Start with a Figgy play couch (or cushions!). The Figgy includes 4 base cushions, two rectangles, and a wedge. The four base cushions can connect to build a strong base for your fort!
Connecting your Figgy play couch cushions into a square is an easy starting build. Place a rectangle on the inside and a rectangle and wedge on the outside. This makes it easy for your kids to climb in and out. Use a silk or blanket on the top for a roof.
For smaller kids, connect three Figgy play couch cushions and set them up in an open square. Place a silk or blanket on top, and your child can easily crawl in and out. You can place two rectangles in the opening to make a door.
